FAQ's

Why did you change your name from NightRays to Rays?
Our business has grown substantially since we opened our doors five years ago. While most of our interpretations are still afterhours preliminary reads, we have significantly expanded our daytime and 24/7 reads. Additionally, we are rapidly expanding into other radiology areas and decided it was time to have a name that more accurately represented our ever-expanding scope. Please stay tuned for more exciting news regarding Rays’ growth and information on how we are illuminating the world of radiology.

Why was the company named “NightRays” in the first place?
As the concepts of the company slowly formed in the years preceding 2005, we sought to create a place that would have all the positive aspects of a strong and honest company without the unnecessary evils that have no place in business. As the company emerged, the cultural environment had a distinctively progressive and “cool” nature. By 2004, it was time to name the company. Since the company began with nightwork, it seemed a natural fit to name this new company “NightRays.” With the “night” removed, it achieves a cutting-edge persona simply as “Rays.”

Who is Ray?
Ray is not a person, but a way to refer to X-Rays, so we thought it was a good name for our teleradiology company.

What happens to the NightRays name?
The company’s legal name is still NightRays, PA. However, we will now be doing business as Rays. Contracts will identify the company as NightRays, PA, d/b/a Rays, but all new marketing materials will reflect the new Rays mark, but because many clients continue to refer to us as NightRays in connection with the night business, our use of the NightRays mark continues, but no longer as the name we now use to refer to the company.

Do we need to amend our contracts?

Will Rays still do night work?
Yes. This will probably remain the bulk of our work despite increasing our daywork offerings.

Does Rays still have the “DayRays Service”?
Yes, there’s no change but it’s simpler. Rays opened its doors with and continues a partnership with onsite hospital radiologists. Originally, “DayRays” was the term for the daytime cases read by these local, onsite radiologists while “NightRays Service” was the term for afterhours work. Over time this blurred as the onsite radiologists took on weekend cases and “afterhours” radiologists started reading daywork. These terms were confusing to the clients and became unnecessary over time. The onsite radiologists continue their daywork with Rays and now it’s all called Rays service whenever we read a case.

When will Rays start doing daywork?
We started doing daywork a few months after the company started in 2005. This portion of the business has continued to grow. There are a number of facilities that exclusively use Rays to cover their facilities on a 24-hour basis.

^ Top
